Why you keep forcing people to use phone numbers?
Same. I wish they would use Nostr to build the social graph.
Once I tried Vexl and it didn't find any connection in my contacts (apparently all my phone contacts are nocoiners). I don't share my phone number with bitcoiners.
You don’t need Bitcoiner connections.
All you need is a common (nocoiner) contact you share with a Bitcoiner you don’t know yet.
They use phone numbers because if you have someones phone number you usually have met/had contact with that person in meatspace and can evaluate if this is a trustworthy person you would recommend meeting for a BTC-Fiat-exchange. How would you get this kind of trust level for anon npubs?
Sure this is a tradeoff. Can you think of a better way to keep the trust level high?
Privacy conscious people don't use phone numbers at all.
Back in the day when Jack was still at twitter, Macron allegedly wanted his phone number to contact him about some censorship stuff. Twitter (people) replied Jack doesn't have a phone number. Allegedly.
As I said trade-offs.
Privacy conscious people also don’t necessarily meet with unknown strangers, I guess?
