I honestly asked myself why Durov was allowed to speak in front all those activists. So much of what he claimed in that appearance has been widely criticized by the it-sec community for years.

Signal has shitty UI/UX. While I can see signal's possible use-cases for a whistleblower or journalist I don't see any practical use case let alone benefits for me personally or anyone I contact to over telegram or WhatsApp. It seems to me that main signals usecase for normal people is virtue signaling.
Signal has a shitty UI/UX? On iOS it works and looks great. Don’t know about Android. It encrypted and not owed by meta. It’s my everyday messenger.
Always has had. It doesn't have features parity with WhatsApp or TG from 5 years ago.
if signal is your everyday messenger and you are so happy with it, why do care so much about other people using TG? Why don't you care say about say FB messenger which has a way more users and worse privacy and data collection issues?
