I don’t think the first statement is true in all cases.

Simple e.g. a woman dances for a crowd: she is free to move however she wants and has little privacy about it. Everyone is ok with this when the setting is appropriate. She could easily be somewhere else doing the same dance alone. Whether or not the dance continues will depend on the crowd’s reaction in this case. Also the woman can decide, obviously. Everyone is happy to stay out of the way and she concludes her dance when she pleases. Very free situation.

The woman can have the same freedom alone, but now she doesn’t have to consider the crowd’s opinion as much, they won’t stop her immediately and there will be no jeers from them here if she makes a bad move. People often practice in private to hide their mistakes and shame, and to improve, many positive motivations, possibly negative ones. Judge as you see fit.

And what if she doesn’t know she is being watched? How will she act then? Is she less free because someone chose to spy?

When looking at something wondering if you need to hide it or not, is that due to shame or something else? 🤔

Just thinking out loud here and asking questions ✌🏻
