What do you think are the most likely types of events to suddenly pump Nostr user numbers?
A few ideas:
- a COVID redo
- Chinese adoption
- Kanye comes here
- a popular cause that requires fund raising
There are probably better ones I can't think of.
China already blocked it. They will block every known, large public relay for sure.
Probably will take a few celebs / big personalities, wave of new users with each.
Might be time to host some relays on I2P or Lokinet just in case.

Another truckers protest type situation. That would spur both Nostr and lightning. That's the most likely I think.
Australia bringing in KYC for social media should create a demand. Speaking freely from a government account would be to risky
Aussies will fumble in to it unwittingly.
It will take a few Ballarat mums being arrested in their PJs for opposing the gov before they wake up to the insanity of KYCed social media.
Zaps appealing to some big artists or influencers.
Hardly adoption but I can see charities setting up here en mass at some stage.
