1 of my older brothers refuses to buy bitcoin even though he was the one interested in it around 2015-2017

I think part of the reason he avoids it is regret and would rather stay as far away from it as possible now.

But today I was thinking on how I could get him involved again even with $20 or $30.

As I was thinking about it , I found $20 cash in the grass while mowing on the highway.

I figured I’d give him a call tonight and propose an idea that if he signs up to an exchange to buy some bitcoin, I’ll send him the $20 to start .

Even if he doesn’t buy anymore for a year, at least he can watch that $20 appreciate in price .

My next step will send him bitcoin over lightning through strike if he gets interested.

Yes I could take the $20 for myself and stack more SATS. But if $20 gets my brother even slightly interested, it will be worth it.

How're you finding Strike? Never used it but everyone raves about it

I think strike in the US would be 10x better than strike in Australia so I can’t entirely vouch for it.

However it makes payments over the lightning network effortlessly and you can literally add people’s lightning address through usernames which I think is a cool add.

I send my dad SATS whenever I owe him money and it’s effective + efficient.

I’ve also used it to buy things like Amazon gift cards , fuel gift cards etc so I can directly pay with BTC without having to cash it out.

I can also buy bitcoin directly with any debit card which is easy.

But I hear the US has more features than this + more to come like bitcoin backed loans.

Thanks for sharing that. I'll have to give them a try 👍

Did your brother take you up on the offer and sign up for an account to buy bitcoin?

He did sound interested and said night time he’s down my way, he’s happy to setup an account .

But he’s not the type of guy to do things over the phone or YouTube tutorials. Needs to be in person . Haha

My brother is hesitant to buy any himself too. But, if he buys a gift for our parents then he is okay to split the price with me and I pay him my share in bitcoin. So that is the only amount he has bought.

He feels that for an economy to function there has to be a little bit of inflation. Are to convince otherwise. I just think he sounds like a closet hardcore Keynesian!

That’s good as though, I like that idea of splitting with BTC . I’ll try that strategy
