I finally looked more closely at this study. Maddening the way it's presented in the media, because the researches recommended that people continue to grow their own food but pay more attention to the materials used in their infrastructure.

There are so many things wrong with the current environmental panic, but I think that one of the worst is that carbon emissions are taken as the sole measure of ecological health/damage. Even if all the alarmist models were correct, it's such a reductive way to look at ecosystems. All manner of serious contributors to pollution, poor soil, water, air... they all get a pass if they are not counted in the carbon calculator.
