I'm 3 chapters in to Van Wirdum's [The Genesis Book: The Story of the People and Projects That Inspired Bitcoin](https://amzn.to/494nR8M) and I have to say so far I'm pleasantly surprised.

The book weaves together the two strands of cryptography and 'Austrian' economics that converge into the ideals behind Bitcoin.

If you came to Bitcoin from one side or the other (I came from the economics side), grab this book for a helpful intro to the history of the "other" side.

So far (ch 5) it's all Hayek and no Rothbard, though... 🧐

...for good reason: the Extropians and cypherpunks were enormously influenced by Hayek in particular. (Not a single mention of Rothbard in this book--surprising since many of these players were crypto-anarchists).

Finished in the wee hours this morning--hard to put down, honestly. Recommended.
