That was a short lived break. But for good reason. I need some help.

Bad day just got worse.

Long story short, my mother has had a mystery tumor in her neck for about 7 years and had multiple multiple surgeries across the country trying to fix it. She finally had what was her largest, most intense, and hopefully the last one in January.

It was also the most expensive.

Health insurance company (that they’ve had for years through all of these previous surgeries) thought that was kinda sus and was being dodgy. Dad just got a letter today, the last day of the month, that they’re terminating their coverage for no reason effective… today.

I worked in health insurance as a patient account rep. I fucking hate those companies. But I’ve never seen something like this. I also was only an account rep so I was just working for a clinic talking to patients’ insurance companies for them essentially. I’m no expert. So this is what I need help with.

1) How does my dad get a new group health insurance policy and fast? Mom still has several visits and minor treatments left in her journey and now nothing is there to help because they didn’t want to.

2) How do I drive these fuckers into the ground for every penny they denied my mom. Absolutely asinine handling of this situation. Kids at a day care have more delegation and courtesy than these leaches, and they’re not bailing on promises that essentially could change someone’s life just because they don’t want to.

This is a serious inquiry. I know I got colorful, but dammit I am livid. I mean, for one, it’s my own mother. And two, it’s entry number 387,618,577,678,201 on why American healthcare is fucked and and think that one was my tipping point.

If you are knowledgeable in any of these areas, please DM me.

I will settle down and go on a walk. I’m sorry.

Health Insurance companies suck man. I have been using crowdhealth for the past few months and it has been great, I don’t know if it helps your particular situation but It seems like a very viable long term alternative to hopefully do away with the bullshit that is health insurance companies today. What may help your situation is that In my experience with hospitals stays and doctors visits, negotiating a cash price up front has been cheaper than what I used to pay per visit even with “very good” (or at least expensive) health insurance. Often times 60 percent cheaper.
