Without religion or the state, would man have been able to develop a functional society?

I am honestly not sure what I think on this. But I imagine that society developed first around religion, then around the state (violence) and finally around a mix of both (politics).

Perhaps next technology or corporations, or a mix of both? 🤷‍♂️

I think my understanding of current archaeological understanding supports your statement.

I personally don’t think we’ve found the replacement for religion though. Tech and corps are things we *can* do, nothing has emerged to give us a common understanding of what we *should* do.
