There's also subjective vs objective truth. Would you say conquering ego is sage-like and ideal but difficult for most?

I'm not sure it's ideal to be ego-less always. We probably have egos for a reason. They are often silly passengers in most cases though.

I heard somewhere:

Your ego is Duke in the court of mind. For most, though, ego takes the position of King.

Yeah, I can see the case for it being used as a form of survival, or some leftover monkey DNA. 😄
