To me, I think the most likely outcome is:

One hand, some extremely powerful and very few humans will upload their consciousness to hardware, thus inaugurating a new evolutionary path: non-carbon based humans. These, inhabiting physical bodies much more resilient and lasting than our current ones, and being able to migrate from one to the next seamlessly, will be able to get out of Earth and to colonize the stars. All the other humans will be a dead end evolutionarily speaking, and will eventually become extinct, without a biological descendant species.

On the other hand, I think we will also give birth to a new, non-human, non-carbon based form of life, directly descended from the current primitive AI. These may accompany the first ones in their evolutionary path to colonize the stars, and also the ones left behind, and eventually too acquire their own physical bodies and perhaps go on their own path without any human.

If Mike McCulloch's theory of Quantised Inertia works out in practical experiments then we can ditch dark matter and a new era of interstellar travel will become a possibility.

Even if we devise ways of moving stuff across the stars at reasonable speeds, I still think our bodies are just not made for it and the only way we can join our silicon-based inventions in interstellar travel and colonization is by embedding ourselves in them, preferably with zero organic parts.
