Why #blossom when #youtube gives you infinite storage for videos ? #spotify for audio ( and video) and #github for code and text ?
#askNostr
Does it make sense ?.

Better question is why blossom when there's BitTorrent?
I've heard blossom is faster with initial response time but then I did some more testing to see how fast BitTorrent can be and it seems plenty fast enough to me
Oh .. I have nothing against Blossom or Torrents .. .. my point was from a creator standpoint ... If you are a show maker ( aka video podcast - whatever that means :-) , then you got to be on youtube ... that is just the reality ... same for the musicians - they need to be on Spotify to pay their bills !
The approach at #nostr should be to help creatives bring their yt and spot content to nostr ... asking them to upload their stuff on nostr media servers (again) is a non starter ! ..
Besides .. if the goal is censorship resistance .. then nostr must provide censorship resistance against the big platforms.. not against their own Primal or Nostr.build :-) ..
The way I vision this is - when a creator is uploading content to major platforms , they should get an option to replicate to nostr media servers .. and also an option to bring past content for v4v .. zaps are a great incentive ... but the work should be easy ... I mean that is where dev effort should go ..
Weird question...
If you don't pay on youtube, it means they get the money (for bandwidth) from somewhere else. "if something is free, you are the product".
In short: they sell your attention, data, interests to the highest bidder. Same for spotify.
Another reason to use blossom: Youtube and Spotify can kick you off whenever they want.
This myth is roped into minds of people that free things are bad .. just FYI ..air is free :-) .... they charge for water but you get the point ... There is nothing in this world which is absolutely free and there is nothing that you can completely own .. btw .. in that beat ..even newspapers ran on advertising .. so was radio and cable .. and btw Linux and Bitcoin code is also free - like free as in free beers ..does that make you a product ? Think about - What does Linux project sell ? Cuz they took eat and live :-) And I thought people were blaming Microsoft and Apple for a hefty price tag on their worthless products ..
Yes - Spotify and YouTube can kick you off .. but they allow you to download your content ..don't they ? .. .. just like a Blossom server , you can keep a copy of all your content on a RAID 5 personal system :-) .. and the truth is ..most our content is anyway useless beyond a shelf life ... Mine is a day ..yours could be an year !
