Personally I couldn’t care less about the “top zap” thing in Primal. Zaps can be fun and an acknowledgment of a useful or interesting note but I think it is often through comments on notes where the real signal is found. The advantage of Nostr being an open protocol though is that people are free to choose to use whichever client allows them to use Nostr in the way that they want to use it.

Competition makes me ill at ease. For OPSEC the identity of the zappers and the amount should be hidden. I can foresee the IRS going after this as income.
Spending money should be cloaked in secrecy.
Damus has the option of sending anonymous zaps although I think the amount is still visible to others. I’m not sure if Primal has the same option though.
