i have this ancient (nearly 4 year old) ideapad 3, working power supply, 20gb memory, 512gb SSD

did me a good 18 months of service as a dev machine

superficial damage due to how many times i'd opened the case that i probably can't sell it second hand anyway

if you can organise how to get it to you i'm happy to give it... it's a possession that i literally haven't used in over a year

also, the keyboard on it has almost not been used, as i have owned mechanical keyboards all of its life and don't compute on the go at all, i literally can't touch type on these garbage things because i don't want to waste my brain retraining for something i don't want to do anyway, and a keyboard that can't handle the amount of use i will give it

That sounds way better than what I have, but I think I might already be getting one from someone else.

well if you are sorted, sure, i would only want you to pay for shipping in any case, it's done pretty good service and still runs fine - yeah, even the display hasn't been used much because it's mostly been attached to an external monitor

oh yeah, it does have some funky USB sockets though, but they mostly seem to work ok, just sometimes some devices disconnect or send funny signals on occasion

You guys have totally cheered me up, fr. I was upset.

You can't omagine how hard it is to develop software, when the computer won't start or can't load the IDE or whatnot. I spend literally hours every day, just sitting there, wishing I could code.

Bizarre situation.

Gives me lots of time to shitpost, tho, so that's not all bad.

i get deja vu about this though, i had something after something you asked previously and someone else did something, i forget what it was tho

anyhow, as i said, i was running IDEs on it, sure vscode would work but i use goland so it runs that too

Why not have two? You can compile more than one thing at once.

I won't be here for it to arrive, soon. I wouldn't be able to take it until next month. I'll be stateside.

One of the offers you have is coming from the US, yes? Why not have it shipped to where you'll be staying and pick it up there?

Yes, that's what I asked him to do. I can buy an American battery there, too.

Good. Very sensible.

Heck, I can take delivery and then give it to you or your daughter in person on a couple of weeks.

I was just going to have him send it to my dad.

Good! That solves a few issues.
