#asknostr what is your privacy browser+VPN recommendation as we head into 2025? And why?
Discussion
Brave browser, Tailscale and Mullvad VPN combo. Open source and can use Umbrel apps and node.
I('ve been using Brave for like three years now, but I like to assess options every year.
I just installed Umbrel on one of my machines and seeing that it's an approved option, I'm reading up on Tailscale right now. You can pair it with Mullvad VPN? If using Mullvad, why not their browser too?
Tailscale and Mullvad have a collaboration through Tailscale. Up to five devices for $5 bucks I believe. Provides exit node and you link all your devices threw Tailscale (VPN) and uses Mullvad as an exit node VPN. I Just switched and still learning. You can Run your own nostr relay, lightning/Bitcoin node and link threw Tailscale on all devices and sync Brave browser securely.
Tor browser and AirVPN because I'm a real one
Android: Fennec Browser and Orbit
PC: GNU IceCat and ProtonVPN
Reasons: Free, open-source, and the security settings that Firefox does not use.
I'm using Firefox + Tor on daily basis. I prefer Firefox, since the Tor browser bundle limits my internet browsing experience with extensions like noscript, ...
Proton + Trivalent & Firefox & TOR with different profiles for each use case.
ProtonVPN + Trivalent & Firefox & Tor with different profiles based for each use-case.
