to be honest with modern car tech this is probably unnecessary unless the road is prone to icing over. but when we had a LADA in USSR it would be defeated by the tiniest slope. i remember seeing a western car ( it was like a Honda Civic ) just fly up a steep street in Kiev as a kid and i could barely believe it. when i left Ukraine the cars there still didn't even have fuel injection.

these days i am a lot more concerned going down than going up. if it's a long descent you could overheat the brakes. again, there are technological solutions to this but we have to engineer for the worst case scenario like some overloaded truck with 500,000 miles on the odometer.
