brass screws haven't been common since the early 80s at least, that's when china started taking over and since then everything is this generic muck steel that when it's supposed to be stainless, rusts
the best typical chinese made fasteners have to be ones that have that gold looking nitride coating on them, that coating is very hard wearing... titanium nitride i think it is? i forget... but everything else is garbage nowadays
