#Lifting is simple. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’ͺ

1. Setup your garage using $2500 of 'built for life' gear. Keep it simple. I recommend rack, plates, barbell, collars, and mats from https://www.thestrength.co/.

2. Starting light, learn the Starting Strength form queues for The Big Four (squat, deadlift, press, bench) using Rippetoe's method, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dacy5hjaE8

3. Setup a simple logbook to record progress. Aim to add reps each week and then weight once reps consecutively exceed 10. Make a little progress each week. Lifting is a lifelong discipline. Don't rush it. Start light and celebrate consistency over strength.

Weightlifting is about strength and discipline. Jaquish's hypertrophy method is gimmicky and focuses on muscles andb physique. Not my kind od scene.

I like the idea of his X3 system for nomadism/vacations, tho.

The Way of Strength is to lift heavy weights 3-5 days / week consistently for 10+ years

There are no shortcuts.

Proof of work is required

Coming from a background growing up in the boxing gym i feel like weight training can turn you into a mummy there is a balance between lifting oking good and functional ability!

Personally take me back in time I would sack weight training it’s more an aesthetic pursuit

Powerblocks and cheap bench for the plebs without $2500 and a garage

Have you used Caliber Strong? It’s a great (free) app for tracking progress and getting workout plans.

Agree, people should be aware you can get cheaper equipment if needed, my cage only cost $550, not as solid as a rogue or something but gets the job done. Also many people buy shit and the second hand sell it when they realize they are lazy, that’s where the real deals come in because it’s heavy and hard to transport

I use all Rogue stuff by my setup is north or $10,000 and there's no real logic to it.

$2500 on the Strength Co is extremely high quality and built for life. Buy once cry once.

Been working with Starting Strength (get the blue book: https://www.amazon.com/Starting-Strength-Basic-Barbell-Training/dp/0982522738), then it’s online coaching offshoot - Barbell Logic Online Coaching for over 5y. Strongly recommend: https://barbell-logic.com/

The way.

Cool. $2500 entry fee though 😬

It's actually a great price to have 50% of the equation for health for life.

I spend $5000 a year at least on good food. A good computer costs about as much.

Think about how much youd save in a lifetime on healthcare by prioritizing fitness.

Great point! Though diet may be a bigger percentage for overall health.

I lifted heavy as a younger man. I am self-employed. I spent about $5K setting up a gym (iron: barbells, plates, racks and bars) at my business so my family and employees could follow the #StartingStrength methodology. We all lift now. Two years later my son is now an apprentice SS coach at the new Tampa Starting Strength gym. Weightlifting has changed lives for our whole family.

Followed, sir.

Seconded

I’m a Fitbod maximalist.

I'm on a journey there lol, strong, but carrying too much weight
