#[0] Have you ever looked into DRBD for data replication?
Discussion
Nope, should I? Do you have some relevant experience? Tell me a little more.
Seeing more people suggesting RAID/ZFS setups, but my opinion is that’s pretty useless since most of the data is blockchain related (ie, better to run 2 nodes with 2 large storage drives than 1 node with mirroring). I’ve been looking into replicating only the lnd db directory and seems like DRBD is the best option, but wanted to get your thoughts before diving into it.
I use ZFS on my servers - TrueNAS and a simple Debian one. It works great. Can expand the pool if needed. The easiest config is a mirrored VDEV with 4 disks. Can make automated snapshots of everything if needed and have separate mounts for any folder.
Docs are plenty and all well tested.
Most of my storage is also ZFS on TrueNAS. But snapshots don’t really work for the channel.db file. Seems like most users are still on pi-type devices or upgrade to micro PC (with 1 NVME slot).
