This is 2024. The companies and agencies that are poor custodians of our secrets suffer no real consequences when they become public. We have the technologies to solve these problems, there is no incentive to do so. Our only recourse is to refuse to use as many services that require KYC or personal information. Another reason for privacy tech like Above Phone. It isn't JUST that the carriers will collect your data and sell it to industry and give it to government, they also can't be trusted to keep it safe from hackers.
This should not happen, because such data should not be collected and stored in the first place.
