In the detailed statistical review of 100 years of pandemic threats, they show that pandemic risk is dramatically decreasing, not increasing. That has been true for a very long time. Data that shows the contrary is due to better pathogenic surveillance but overall deaths from pandemics show that they are getting more mild by the year.

The one exception is Ebola but even here, it “is a localized disease and normally rapidly contained.”
