A few days ago I returned from the AmityAge Roatán #Bitcoin Experience Tour. Upon arriving in Roatán, I didn't exchange for any local currency. I only had about $20 USD in cash on me at the time. For the twelve days that I was in Roatán, ten of them being days of the tour, I only had to use dirty fiat money a grand total of five times. These were a few snack purchases at gas stations with my credit card, and one trip to a grocery store that didn't accept Bitcoin.

Everywhere else I went during the trip accepted Bitcoin Lightning for payment. It was magical, and really amazing seeing the beginnings of a circular Bitcoin economy being built on the island of Roatán, all due to the AmityAge Bitcoin Academy and their onboarding efforts there. It feels really good to spend and actually transact in Bitcoin the vast majority of the time, and Lightning is WAY faster than paying by any other method.

If you have the desire to visit Roatán, I highly recommend taking the AmityAge Roatán Bitcoin Experience Tour. It was very enjoyable and well worth the time.
