I was about to say that, would be better if we could make a NIP to have an ephemeral event counter, where you send the event to relays and it just counts them per pubkey, but really that's still a terrible solution

We could do an option for the user to add his own server (similar to NIP05) to count his/her posts. Then clients just need to send the ping to the original author or any service the person chooses.
