I consider the religious notion of original sin to be extremely adverse to early childhood development, really from conception forward, and consider any religion and its adherents that believe this notion to be abusive toward children. It's pretty universal, at least in the western world. More children believe they were born sinners and must live up to some proposed deity's standards than those who were raped. But that's religion, so its okay, I guess. So is mutilating genitalia, practicing mock cannibalism, making sacrifices to appease deities, whatever. I have to accept all of that is just fine, while your children become the good slaves they are expected to become. Super!
