going for dual-boot with Ubuntu and Windows on my laptop

Grub is a program that can help you select the os you would like to boot.
Your computer would turn on, then present you with a screen to select windows or Ubuntu.
Likely first you have to partition space for each os, I have used a live Linux USB with gparted partition tool for that, then install grub.
I remember sometimes having trouble with it
