#asknostr I’m looking for a paid email address/hosting where I get to use their domain. Weird, I know.

You see, I already have a registered domain and a personal email address under that domain and I pay for email hosting. But I use a gmail address with my domain registrar so that if anything goes wrong with my registration, I will still be in contact with the registrar. Make sense?

But now, I’m wanting to step up my security game, and it’s time to de-Google. Any suggestions? I am looking at Proton Mail and Fastmail, but I could use some further options.

i've been using Proton since it started. they have been very slow with the Android app development and they still do not have push notifications without GPlay. other than that, i have no complaints. recently Proton released a major update to the Android app so my first point is now moot. (PS i can't recall any time when Proton Mail has been down, for me at least)

Tutanota is another provider that i tried it before i settled on Proton. the client was very bare bones but that was a long time ago.

Mullvad might have something. i haven't looked at them in a long time.

I'm using Mailbox.org , it's simple, cheap for small plans, and as far as I know private too. I think privacyguides.org has it listed, if that's enough for you.

Oh, they have no app though, so you have to use another client.

You shouldn't pay for any of them.

The more they deserve the money for respecting your rights, the more they will be filtered by major providers like gmail, making them less worth it pragmatically.

All the major providers require phone numbers to sign up for free. They don't deserve payment to get around that. Even the ones that still let you make a burner instantly, like tuta, still require javascript enabled as implicit consent to fingerprint users when signing up.

Email is pretty much not worth using, let alone paying for.
