My local bank manager just pulled me aside. “Hey you’re into those crypto-coins, right?”

She goes on to tell me about an older customer who wired over $1.6 million to “an app”. She said she thinks what happened is that someone sent him a fake link for Kraken and he used the wire instructions they provided. She said the bank can’t help and asked me if I could. Sadly the only advice I could leave her with was to file a claim with the FBI.

I have been considering hosting a class locally to help people understand Bitcoin and how to avoid some of the scams. This is pushing me to move forward with it. I plan to make it very clear that although I want to help, everyone is responsible for their own choices. Last thing I want is someone to get scammed and blame me, but someone needs to be available to help people navigate this transition.

Any good resources for a 2-hour introductory meeting? I was thinking of starting with the What’s The Problem video and then opening it up to questions and having a list of trusted resources for people to take home. Has anyone done this? What worked and what didn’t?

Highly recommend to run Bitcoin meetings in your area.

The ones i generally attend are not presentations, people hanging out and sharing information and discussing Bitcoin.

I actually planned on trying to show this at my local meetup that I started a year ago. Building out your community is going to be important in my opinion.

I meant I planned on showing this tomorrow. I started the meetup a year or so ago.

This video is very biased!

Don’t get me wrong. Pretty accurately describes the shit we are in. But give me a break that BTC is an ointment to cure all illnesses

I am waiting for someone to create detailed insight on what shit happened on Satoshi’s side.

Did 0.01% of population get 90% of supply at the start?

Did they centrally control distribution of money at the start instead?

Did they do it equally?

With continuous increase of purchasing value and decreasing prices do they have scheduled decrease in wages?

So many questions and really no answer

You’re asking good questions. You might find some of the answers in Principles of Ecomomics by Saifadean or if you prefer no Bitcoin bias at all, Economics in One Lesson by Hazlit which predates Bitcoin by decades.
