Alcohol is obvi not necessary but more fun! But not binge drinking cuz that’s just stupidity, except during early 20s and at uni.

And I don’t think inappropriateness is necessary either and people have difference sense of humor and not everyone will get sarcasm, esp if very subtle.

The Brits have a dry sense of humour.

I’d say HONESTY, actually LIKING the other person and good conversations are essential for a good friendship.

It's a meme...of course drugs are never a must, but friendship doesn't live by rules of right or wrong,, act in a certain way or other, and that's what the meme in my perspective talks about.

Either we accept each other as we are, imperfect humans, the duality in each one of us, the good and bad, different belief systems, respect for each other differences, or else friendship cannot flourish. All that is conditional is not authentic. My humble opinion. 🙃

I agreed and beautifully said!

But most people tend to have friends with similar perspectives & views. And from similar class level, socioeconomic status, education level, etc. Not much mixing or variances.
