My husband and I were talking about how Americans complain about everything even though they have more than >99.99% of the people who have ever lived. Our founders were tough. The people who traveled west in wagon trains were tough. Modern Americans are whining wimps. I'm much less of a whiner or a wimp than the average American, but I still can only dream of being as tough as our founders and those who traveled west. I'm grateful for the blessings I have, but too many blessings can make people weak.

I like this sentiment, but want to see if you agree with this:

While we have more material wealth and comfort, we are in absolute poverty in terms of a sense of community, belonging, sense of purpose, sense of any higher meaning. Or social interactions are all fake (case in point, lol) and we are utterly atomized and miserable because of it.
