I think he means this in the sense that Facebook will become the second example of a tech company being buck broken after trying to dictate how a decentralized network of individual instances should act.
The first was Gab, the third will likely be Mozilla.
Tumblr is also supposedly going to join.

I think it’ll be cool if they actually do it. A lot of them have been saying they’re gonna for a long time though and it almost never bears fruit.
