My strategy was to put all of my efforts into my craft to maximize earning power, to skip ownership of physical assets like houses and cars, be minimal in tangible goods but spendy in nightlife/restaurants/outings/entertainment, and play the long game on savings/net worth.
Worked.
I've never made or planned expenditures that would threaten even 15% of my total savings.
When my savings was tiny I lived in a small Chinese hotel downtown and showered at Equinox.
In that way I could still go out and enjoy while saving a huge amount of my income.
Work hard play hard.
