Phoenix 2.0 🤩

Discussion
Do you have a good resource I can read or watch to learn? I’d like to avoid the $3k fee if I can!
V2.0 has way lower fees! I think it’s 1000 sats to open a channel.. and with splicing you only need the one channel.
If liquidity needs to be added then there’s the on-chain miners fee.. here’s info from Phoenix wallet
And here’s a post: https://acinq.co/blog/phoenix-splicing-update

Oh interesting, I just went to receive in a new Phoenix wallet for the first time and the fee is almost 3k.. so I’m not sure now, will ask them over at twttr as I don’t believe they’re here yet :/
that is channel opening fee
Right but it was supposed to be 1000 sats in V2.0, which was why I was surprised it said 3k might be needed.
Anyway all good, happy to report I went ahead and yes, the channel open fee was 1000 and the miner fee was 761, so total to open a new channel was 1,761, about half what it used to be (tho of course will vary depending on miner fees)
good to hear that. can you help share feedback later on:
1. random channel closure incident
2. random channel opening fee incident
feel like i want to try it out but still undecided
Yes happy to share feedback later.
I have actually been using Phoenix for a while already and loved it aside from the 3k channel open fee.
Never had any channel closure/force closures.
V2.0 has options in the settings to prevent any unexpected fees.. check out advanced options under Channel Management in Settings.
Also, in V2.0 you only have one channel now. It has splicing options, meaning liquidity can be increased on the fly (instead of needing a new channel open). Splicing would incur an on-chain miner fee.
