What where the reasons you chose to go with raised beds?

For me, raised beds keep the weeds down. I still have to weed them a bit but not like mega warfare against Johnson grass. If I put them in the ground, I have to use ground cover cloths around them. Johnson grass ALWAYS wins. And it's all I have for grass on our acreage.
I wanted to raise the beds up for reducing weeds as Michele mentioned, reducing amount of bending over, I may need to move and May try taking them with soil and plants, and also to help allow small kids to be able to better learn about gardening (easier to view) as well as understand that the plants in there are not to be trampled haha
