What is the benefit of owning a "private" BTC IOU, especially if most people ever would only own IOUs at scale? Back to square one...

It's worse than noncustodial cash on the fiat standard.

I agree it is a bad store of value, but what about a medium of exchange and unit of account. When you have enough #cashu to buy a utxo, buy one.
