I feel weird using nostr the same what I did Twitter. Not being able to remove what you post makes me wonder why I’m posting. If it’s permanent, shouldn’t I wait until I have found something useful to say?

That’s also an issue, if it’s not actually permanent what’s the point in it being censorship resistant? Kind of like a cctv slowly using up its loop waiting to be searched before its evidence evaporates 😅

Your posts are as permanent as you make them. Each relay operator decides which notes to keep and for how long. If you want your notes preserved for posterity, one option is to run your own relay. Alternatively, you can pay one or more relays to do this for you (and rely on them to honor the contract). If you neither pay, nor do it yourself, then you’re relying on the generosity of strangers.

I’ll need to learn how to do this, if I continue using nostr. I like this idea of a distributed social network. No clue how to start yet but it’s better than the alternative. Ty for the responses!
