I think there is some confusion here. What nostr:npub1lck4ea3wjk4tgxds0dhc57m4609nqeh6ufwxk39vurulxrzexq7ssjg5k4 said is correct. Low temperatures and darkness accelerate crystal production because the plant thinks it is going to die, so it gives it all it has for maximum production. But what you are describing is for the process of extracting the resin after the plant has been cut.

that's also one form of treatment. Some people would argue that you put the ice on the soil to purple the plant. Which isn't entirely wrong either but doesn't turn skunk into purple haze (for example). With the ice on the image the plant freezes from the roots through the stomp to the buds. similar and it also increases the trichomes.

do you think differently? I'm always open to get corrected or learn new things. 😉

I agree with what you said. With the exception of the purple family, some plants turn more purple than others with cold and darkness in the last days of flowering.

100%

Just to add that some people use air conditioning at the minimum temperature it can go, and/or Ripen (https://generalhydroponics.com/products/ripen/)
