Going to switch to Android when I upgrade, but does anyone know if Apple’s passkey feature for iOS17 would make it easier to switch between iOS Nostr clients? (I understand giving my private key to Apple is also bad).

Or do current iOS apps only store the private key client side already?

Apologies if these are dumb questions, but I’m a little hesitant to give each app on iOS my private key. #nostr #apple #asknostr

Ya don't. Try different client with a new generated private key. And don't let Apple store tour private key write them down..

Good advice. Thanks!

But… Not sure android is any more secure that iOS (there are those who will claim it is not, but I am no security researcher), but why not consider a 3rd party password management tool (I believe several of them either already or will support passkeys. )

Thanks for the response! Yea I’m also just trying to speculate on how Apple could implement passkeys longer term.

I use nos2x on the web and like how that works on web clients.

A lot of folks on Nostr have been installing GrapheneOS on Android phones to make it more secure than stock, so that’s what I’ve been considering.
