i found a spare key of my appartement while cleaning a drawer.. i though handy! and decided to use it in the door to avoid the door from making noise bc of the wind..
i went out to throw away trash and now i cannot open the door w my key on my keychain bc there's a key inside??? wtf is this logic 😭
it's also midnight atm.. sitting in my car.. thank god i have my charger here at least.

Some locks can be disengaged with a card if you manage to insert it between the door and the door frame, and slide the card down. Maybe there’s a window left open

yes, standard lockwood key mechanism with two sides one blocks the other with the key in.
it's a useful thing as a countermeasure against a bad housemate or invasive landlord. it also means you can't pick the lock if the key is on the inside.
today you learned something you didn't know before.
