The only way they will ever leave again is if the US does a complete about-face on bitcoin policy at the DOJ and I don’t see that happening anytime soon, definitely not during this administration.

I hear you. It’s hard to choose a Lightning wallet. Maybe try the new Misty Breez with no channels. The transaction fees aren’t as low but you never have to touch liquidity again.
If and when I do, its not anything in immediate. I honestly have no real use for it, at least none that add any benefit. I can make the same purchases on-chain without another app and more steps. I have my digital life as simple as possible and the less apps on my phone, the better.
