πΈπͺ Gustav Vasa make his formal entry to Stockholm in 1523 and is celebrated as King. This was directly after the conquest of Stockholm, a battle in the Swedish War of Liberation that took place in Stockholm, Sweden on 17 June 1523. The Swedish forces had for a long time laid siege to Stockholm, which was the last Danish stronghold in Sweden. Initially of low standing, Gustav rose to lead the rebel movement against the Danes following the Stockholm Bloodbath, where his father was executed. Gustav's election as King on 6 June 1523 and his triumphant entry into Stockholm eleven days later marked Sweden's final secession from the Kalmar Union
