Definitely agree with the kid. If someone came up and smashed my phone I would accept the phone they are giving me, call the police, and then sell said phone to replace my android.

Just pistol whip them, it's easier then take their phone and the new phone, and take 1 shoe from them as well (it doesn't matter which shoe, this is just a power play)

This is also a good way to deal with the problem. I just dont want them contacting the police about the pistol whipping and their stolen phone.
