Isn't Bitcoin also an invasion of privacy -- even though it's not directly controlled by a gov't like CBDCs?

It's why Monero makes more sense to me. I don't want regular people, data analysts, or governments being able to see all my transactions.

Just out of curiosity have you worked in govt and had first hand experience with their strategic objectives?
