The Moors were a Berber people, a Semitic people recently conquered by Arabs and converted to Islam. They didn't pass through what is today Morrocco, they were from there. They were pale (but not "white"), many were even gingers. They were big into slavery of subsaharan Africans. They reintroduced civilization back into western Europe, which they themselves had lost because of the collapse of the Western Roman Empire and the invasions by Germanic peoples into north Africa. But this civilization they got from their Arab conquerors, who had taken it from the Greeks and Egyptians they conquered prior.
