I honestly feel like if I sat down in a room between both of you and just listened, I’d hear deep secrets of life unfold. Y’all are a couple of the most interesting posters on here.
I feel like there are multiple forces at play here though: a increasing desire to live performatively, to fit in, to toe the line - and a little closer to what felt like nostr:npub1m4ny6hjqzepn4rxknuq94c2gpqzr29ufkkw7ttcxyak7v43n6vvsajc2jl ‘s point, those rare forces created by individuals. Individuals living genuinely are where sociological models tend to break down anyways. Any single person can be the catalyst for major disruptions.
I certainly don’t know where all of their power comes from, but I feel like in periods of increasing homogeneity, those who are truly themselves and living genuinely are incredibly attractive to those around them. They are living the secret desire of those around them, and this gives them an amplified influence.
