What happened to taking a half step towards a shelf in a store when someone comes down the isle to go past you? Am I suffering from the Mandela Effect or did that used to take place? Now people are oblivious, or don't care.

I always make room for people when they want to go past. Maybe I'm just old.

People today are self absorbed and don't notice nor care for others. It isn't that they are trying to offend. They just don't care about anyone but themselves. Society is paying the price.

I'm not sure that the younger generation has ever been taught basic manners and consideration for others. I'm not sure they realize how rude they are being. The schools teach them to be victims and victims don't realize they might be hurting others.

Agreed. Oblivious indeed.

Most people are oblivious in most respects.

And to another commenters point, if you rely on schools (even private/parochial) to instill anything from outside of a textbook in your children, your later years might suck worse than they ought.

Yes sir

I still do it. And scoot the cart out of the way too.

That's because you are a gentleman.

People generally give me a wide birth. 🤣
