So i have a spare intel macbook pro. Would like to run a bitcoin node, a lightning node perhaps, and do other things. Have an almost zero experience level with programming anything outside but willing to learn. Should i set it up to boot a linux OS? Where to start

Check out Start9. You can do both of those and other things. Gonna need 2TB SSD.
