Yeah I saw that video last night. F'ing pissed off. I hope people revolt against this
However I decided if they are going to try and install a smart meter here I will ask them have they called western power distribution because I will eventually go off grid and they will need to remove and reroute the electrical pylon from my garden I currently get a wayleave for. This pylon currently serves at least 4 properties so it's looking pretty expensive 🫰 🙂. We need to get creative with combating tyranny.

Also I find it curious how the media and gov are crowing all the time about boogie men hacker teams in Russia and North Korea attacking things like NHS computers but have now decided to get us all to have a highly hackable switch in everyones house!

I am also not sure how they are going to put it in the older houses you don't get any reception in them! Will they have a separate aerial?
If the house has internet access and WiFi they will just piggy back off that signal.
Makes sense I suppose gets harder to do all the WiFi stuff with solid stone walls though. If they use cables or even the earth socket to transmit data around the house hopefully someone build an intercepter box or something. Perhaps it's easier just to tell them to fuck off or go full riot at that point!
Also, the meters generate their own signal that can be picked up by the reading unit.
