Trypanosoma
So technically the animal which is the cause of death is the parasite and not the snail.
Trypanosomas are not animals, but yes.
Same applies to mosquitoes. They barely kill anyone, the killer are the organisms causing the diseases they transmit. This is like saying someone got killed by the air, because the bullet flew through the air before hitting him on the head.
