The Andromeda Galaxy is a stunning spiral galaxy close to our own Milky Way. It's the biggest in our galactic neighborhood, with a diameter of about 200,000 light-years. A small section of this galaxy, as seen by the Hubble Space Telescope, shows off nearly 2 billion stars.

The Hubble Space Telescope is powerful enough to see individual stars in a 61,000-light-year-long part of the galaxy's disk. This image is a great example of how big and beautiful the universe is, and how technology helps us learn more about it.
