My problem with the Bitkey is that if restoration can take place with 2 of the 3 keys missing, there exists a mechanism where a government subpoena can force Block to give them your bitcoin.

Seems like a solution for getting no-coiners into self custody rather than custodial but the trade-off is less security.

I totally agree with you. This will not be my primary hardware because of what you’ve stated.

I was even hesitant about buying this for this reason but I have many different self custody devices and I like to get my hands on them to verify how they work in person.

This allows me to personally recommend other solutions and to physically show them step by step. In my experience it’s easier to switch someone to another solution if they know you have the same device rather than just stating to switch.

I appreciate your input, it’s helpful when it comes to explaining the risks involved with this device. Thanks!
